So now I know that I have about a month left in Colorado before I leave for eleven months. That is unbelievable. I still have so much packing to do. And I need to finish all 3 discs of my Svenska Rosetta Stone before I leave. It's crazy how busy I have been in preparation for this exchange. I have never been more excited/nervous about something in my life. I am really looking forward to going to Sweden, and now my exchange is sooner than I could have ever imagined.

Leaving in 1 Month
In the past two weeks, I have gotten a lot of news about my exchange, now it feels like a good time to share said news. Two weeks ago, I got an email from my Rotary counselor in Uppsala, he seems very nice. He told me about the school I will attend, and he also told me a little more about Uppsala. Just when I thought I couldn't get any more exciting news from Sweden, I got an email from my first host mom. Both my host parents work and they have four children: ages 9 to 18 years old. My first host family seems really friendly. They live about 10 km from my school, and I will be riding my bike or taking the bus to school , so hopefully, I will get in good shape from all of the biking/walking! In even more exciting news, all of the paperwork for my resident permit application has finally been sent to the travel agent who has sent my application to the Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C.. I am going to be receiving a letter in the mail from the Swedish Embassy, and as soon as I get that letter, the travel agent can finally book my plane ticket. My hosting Rotary Club, the Uppsala Norra Rotary Club has requested that I arrive between July 28th- August 1st, so that I have time to settle in and attend the orientation camp before school begins on August 19th.

Going to Sweden
Hi. My name is Abigail and I am from Colorado, in the western part of the United States. For the 2013-2014 school year, I will be an exchange student in Uppsala, Sweden. Uppsala is the fourth-largest city in Sweden and is about 40 minutes north of the nation's capital, Stockholm. I am so grateful to my sponsoring Rotary club, D5440, and the whole Cowboy Country RYE committee for making my exchange possible. I leave at the end of July and I am so excited, I cannot even put my excitement into words. I know that I will miss my best friend, her family, and my family the most while I am on my exchange, but I am really looking forward to the adventures and new experiences I will have in Sweden. I made this blog really just as a way to keep in touch with my family and friends back in Colorado, so I can't promise perfect spelling or consistent blog updates, but I hope this is a solid way to keep in touch with the people that matter the most to me. Wish me luck!
